November 7, 2021 - Sunday
Oh, man. What a day. The kids slept really well last night, but me and Ben? Not so much. I probably got 5-6 hours, but Ben thinks he only got about 3. Not great! We left Marietta around 9am and within a half hour (maybe less?) Ollie had thrown up from car sickness. We pulled over, got her cleaned up, gave her and Jonas Dramamine, and kept going. 10 minutes before we get home, RUBY throws up in the car! Like, three times! She told us she was feeling car sick and we had opened her window, but we were so close to home, so we were totally sure she could hold on until we got there. Nope. SO MUCH THROWUP. We get home, exhausted from having too little sleep, and get to work. Ben gets the girls in the bath and I start cleaning the car. Ruby's booster seat was so coated in vomit that I just threw it away. I couldn't handle cleaning it. I scrubbed the seat with two different cleaners, but I can see that it didn't come out completely. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that.
Thankfully, Jonas and Clemi pitched in (without being asked!) and helped me bring all of the luggage into the house and we all started putting things away. I got the laundry started and did a bunch of other house-chore type stuff, while Ben got ready for Fred's daughters viewing that was this afternoon. We finally got to sit for a bit...although I pushed it too long on dinner prep and missed my window to get things going for the meal we're having tonight. Looks like it's Chinese for dinner!
After Ben got home from the funeral, we had a fire in the yard with Melis, Cerag, and Naz and roasted some marshmallows. It was so fun getting both families together! Naz fit right in and played well with all of our kids. I'm very thankful that Clemi is so sweet with younger kids. She just kind of keeps an eye on everyone and makes it so that the grownups don't have to get up quite as often. She's a good girl. 💜 We had some close calls with the fire pit and kids getting too close to it 😰, but the evening turned out well. Nobody got burned. 😅 Ben really enjoyed meeting Cerag and I think conversation was pretty natural and easy. Jonas was very excited about getting more Turkish Delight too! :)
Once our visit was over, we all just kind of crashed. Ruby went straight to bed and everyone else wandered up shortly after.
I didn't take any pictures today at all, with all the craziness, although I wish I had gotten some of our visit with Melis and family. I'm posting a couple more pictures from yesterday's adventures.
