Well, I was woken up early again today, but did not make the most of it. I just stayed mad...all day. I worked on pictures the entire time Ollie was at school and I HATE THE WAY THEY TURNED OUT SO MUCH. I am going to post the one I "finished" on here, but I'm fixing them tomorrow! I hate them! I'm thinking it's just not going to work, trying to replicate the scenes from the movie. I need to just use our own yard or something. The background images are never a high enough quality to work well and it's just so obvious that the girls are copied and pasted (especially in Clem's image). It's not working. Ollie's picture is just as bad, but in different ways. I'm thinking I shouldn't have just taken all of the photos in the back yard, thinking I could photoshop something together. I should have actually staged things, the way I have done in the past. I'm getting over-confident in my Ps skills and lazy in my directing! 😅 I was on Insta earlier and saw a post from lifeofaviax, a photographer that I really admire, and she painted the whole background of her most recent Nightmare Before Christmas post. In the comments, she said that she was just so tired of trying to get the right background images and trying to manipulate them and that she thinks this was faster and easier in some ways! I was very impressed. I don't think I have the skill to do what she does, and I definitely don't have the equipment to do what she does, BUT I think there was a good lesson in there. Making beautiful art isn't easy. I shouldn't expect it to be. Exciting, creative art takes time and thought. I can't just throw something together and expect perfection!
