December 29, 2022 - Thursday

After a lot of indecision, we drove to DE yesterday. Our plan was to leave on Tuesday evening and drive late, have the WHOLE day Wednesday to visit and go on a date, and then start the chaos on Thursday. BUT. Tuesday morning, Marme calls and says she's feeling sick. She doesn't know what's going on, but something's off. We decided to hold off until Wednesday morning and just deal with whatever sickness she gives us. Tuesday afternoon, Ollie came down with a freaking fever! She was acting pretty normal and had no other symptoms, but her temp was 103. Wednesday, her temp was still high, but she was still acting normal and her temp came down with meds, so we decided to head out that morning anyway, just a couple hours later than we planned. The drive actually went very smoothly. We had a couple of stops in the morning, but we had a 4-HOUR stretch for the end of the trip. That never happens! We got here in good time and went straight to Patrick and Erin's for a visit. Sadly, Ollie started to decline while we were there. She woke up at 6am that morning, was fighting off a fever all day, and never napped in the car. She was just dragging. I ended up sitting with her in the living room while other people visited, because I didn't have much other choice. We came to dad and MJs in the early evening and got everything all set up and eventually got everyone to bed. 

This morning was another early one. I feel like that's the way it is. Everyone goes to bed late...everyone wakes up super early. If I put them to bed early, they wake up later! So the day started early, we opened presents with dad & MJ, then started to prep for Clem and Jonas's birthday party. There were tons of people there! But it was a lot of fun. It was so good to see everyone and the kids felt really loved. I haven't been getting many pictures in my anxious state, dealing with a sick kid and being constantly worried about her. I was so looking forward to getting some fun photos!
