March 21, 2025 - Friday
This school week was weird because we couldn't do curriculum Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. I crammed a lot into Wednesday and Friday, but didn't want to be overwhelmed, so it was abbreviated. I had to give Ruby a pep talk today about acting a little less young. She's almost 9!!! But she still acts like she's 6 or 7. As much as I want to cherish these younger years, I also don't want her to fall too far behind her peers. The whining and acting like she's incapable of pushing herself have gone on long enough. She handled the talk well and did push herself harder throughout the rest of the school day, but I have a feeling it's something I'll need to keep reminding her of.
After school, I showered and got myself dressed and makeup'd for my date with Ben later, then took Clemi (along with the two girls) to choir in Westerville. The two younger girls played at the church's playground while I sat in the car and read my book. It worked out pretty well! Sadly, we got stuck in traffic on the way home, so it took 50 minutes to get back. That definitely threatened my good mood, but I was able to get back into it once I walked in the door.
We basically turned around and left right after I got there to go on our date. We wanted to try out this new BBQ place in Hilliard, but when we got there, we realized it was just a takeout place. Not ideal for a date night! So we got back in the car and went to a different BBQ place in a different part of Hilliard. It was good! I, of course, got full way too quickly, and since it was an order at the counter restaurant, our date was over very quickly. We went to Target afterwards and wandered around looking for gifts for Ruby. She has no idea what she wants and I don't either! Neither Ben nor I were in the best mood, so there was a little bit of tension, but it wasn't a bad time.
