I went up to Amy's house today! It was crazy. I felt so anxious when I set out this morning, but I'm really glad I did it. I got there a little after 10 and we went out on their pontoon boat and hung out on the lake until 4pm! Honestly, I was a little disappointed that Kent joined us, but it was good. I didn't end up minding having him there at all and his being in charge of driving and whatnot freed Amy up to just visit. After a couple of hours, we picked up 9 more people. 😳 And then we joined 3 other pontoon boats in the water and anchored in. I spent most of the time in the water and some time visiting with Kent's family (who made up a lot of the people on the boats). It was okay. You know, if I could have chosen, I wouldn't have wanted over 40 strangers hanging out with me in the lake, but it was fine. 🤷 We headed back around 4:00, got changed quickly, and went out to dinner. The food wasn't amazing, but my fish and chips were pretty darn good! I'm just really thankful that I got this time with Amy and that our friendship has lasted all these years, even with us being far apart and having somewhat different life situations. She is a great person and I'm lucky to have her friendship.
Ben had a pretty good day with the kids while I was gone. He played in the pool with them and made spaghetti for dinner. In between, there was lots of fun, laughter, love, and a little getting locked out of the house. Apparently, the cat pushed the lock at some point, because when Ben went to come in from the pool, he was locked out. OMG. He had to go to a neighbors and ask to use a ladder so that he could climb through our window in our bedroom (which is typically unlocked). Thank God the window WAS unlocked and that our neighbor climbed up there and opened things up for them (he offered, saying he was smaller and it would be easy for him...although I think he just wanted a look around our house 😅). Nothing had to be broken! What an event. And of course, being out on the lake, I didn't find out about any of this until afterwards. I would have been a wreck.
