October 28, 2021 - Thursday


What a day! My parents headed out this morning, right after taking the kids to the bus stop. I think we were all VERY exhausted from all of the hard work of the previous couple of days, so I kind of just sat for a while, staring. After staring for too long, I got Ollie ready and we went to visit Brittany and Anna at their new house! Such a great place, with a big yard, in a good area, and a beautiful neighborhood. Once they get their projects done, I feel like it will be the perfect home! I'm so happy they've been able to move on from their rental...even though I know all of the renovating stuff has been really overwhelming for Brit. I took her 20 weeks pictures today!!! Her baby is now the size of a banana...and he's a BOY! They're going to name him Luca. 💓

Today was Hilliard's trick or treat day and, man, it was hectic as always. I got all of the costumes and trick or treat buckets ready ahead of time, so at least that part was done by the time the kids came home. Then, I worked on Clemi's Cruella hairstyle in the span of time before dinner, which worked out pretty well. We had a quick dinner of homemade oatmeal (which everyone loves, btw) and then I started on Clemi's makeup. While I was doing that, Ben was getting Ruby dressed and attempting to get Ollie dressed. She was being a pain, as always. Once everyone was ready, we stepped outside, took some pictures, and then the rain started. And it never stopped. It POURED the entire time we were out there. It was a soggy, miserable trick or treating night...but at least it wasn't cold, like last year! After about an hour, Jonas finally gave up (he had to take super short steps in his costume!) and headed home. 20 minutes later, Ollie gave up and absolutely refused to walk anymore. Between the umbrella, her basket, my drink, and my phone, I could not carry her too. I had to call Ben to come pick her up. After he got her, me and the two other girls worked our way home, Ruby complaining all the way that she was way too tired for this and she wanted to be home in bed right now. 😅 I'm wondering what next year will bring! Will Jonas still trick or treat for another year? I hope so. I also hope that Ollie will be much easier going than she was this year! That girl makes me crazy! 

I still have plans for my Halloween pictures of the kids this year, but I have no idea if I'll end up taking them or not. I've really been slacking. I want to post Brit's pictures today, so I'll post the Halloween pictures tomorrow.

What a day! It literally rained from start to finish, but we packed as much into it as we possibly could! We had a great time visiting and hanging out. We had a fire and lots of great meals *brushes shoulder off*. The kids played well together and, as far as I know, there wasn't any drama! It was a bit exhausting, but I'm so glad that this retreat went well. Last year's was a bit of a bomb, with all the childcare drama happening behind the scenes. I feel like last year's retreat was a pre-cursor to our deciding to move away. Not that they actually had anything to do with one another, but they happened in such close succession that they seem related in retrospect. I drank a bit too much tonight and had a really fun time singing songs, while Tony played the guitar. Man, I wish I had talent with instruments!

November 9, 2025 - Sunday

This is my favorite picture from the whole shoot!! I love it.  We went to CT this morning and I actually got to sit in on the teaching! Woo! It feels like that doesn't happen very often. We hung out in the cafe with friends for a little bit, then went to Chipotle for lunch on the way home.  We spent most of the day just relaxing! I started a photo book for our Maine vaca in September, and tried to get caught up with some other stuff, but it was mostly just a chill day. Jonas and Clem went to group and we stayed home, chillin'. Ben and I got in the hot tub with Ruby and Ollie for a little while, which was fun. It was snowing while we were in there!

November 24, 2025 - Monday

Today was a very rough day for me. It's not like everything went wrong, I just really struggled to manage my emotions. I had to run out, first thing, to get my pick-up order because there were things in it that we needed for breakfast. Then, somehow, we didn't get school started until almost 9:30. I started with Ruby and Ollie, as usual, and decided to check in with Ollie while I was reading. Okay, related side note, Ruby can't stand it when I ask Ollie questions and not her. But the thing is, Ruby remembers EVERYTHING she hears. She learns super well by just plain old listening. If I ask her questions, she answers them correctly and I never get to gauge whether or not Ollie is learning. She also always blurts out answers because she's so afraid I won't give her an opportunity to show us all how much she is learning. And I get it! She wants praise and to show me that she's a good student and she's learning. I understand. But, because of her constant eagernes...
