I think it's boring for me to start nearly every blog post with a rundown of my day. My days are typically pretty...typical? but I don't always have deep thoughts and feelings on the tip of my brain to type out. Anyway, to switch things up, I decided to start this blog post with a complaint about my writing style.
Now, onto my day. I ended up going to my mom's group and I'm glad I did. I got to have some good conversations with Alisha and Lisa, both of whom I haven't had real conversations with in years. That was really good for my heart. I was obviously much closer with them when we were in HC together, years ago, but we've grown apart. Now that I'm actually showing up to group, it's nice to remember why I've always liked them. :) Instead of going through all of the tiny, tedious things that happened today, I think I'll describe my photos! I'll go in order. I got all of my kiddos today!!
1. On our walk to the bus stop this morning, the girls noticed that all of the flowering trees on the next street over were snowing flower petals. I was hoping to get a good sun flare since it was poking right above the house across the street from the girls, but it didn't work out that way. They all picked up handfuls of petals and threw them. Of course, the photos of them actually throwing the petals were chaos and everyone's faces were covered. :)
2. The pee rock!!! My kids have always loved climbing on this rock and every single time, I warn them that dogs also love this rock...to pee on. 😅 They're better at avoiding the sides of the rock and just getting onto the top of it now, thank goodness, but we'll forever and ever call it the pee rock.
3. We got limes to squeeze over our dinner last night and once the kids knew we had them, it was all over. Ruby, Clemi, and Ollie are obsessed with limes and lemons and, if they had their way, would have wedges in their mouths at all times. Ruby asked for one at bed time last night and, of course, we said no. She had a HUGE fit and cried for way too long about it, but we promised her that she could have one as soon as she got home from school today. She did not forget about our promise and enjoyed her lime wedge very much.
4. Story time. I still read with each kid nearly every night. I am reading novels with Jonas and Clemi and Jonas's books are usually really good nowadays. He's firmly into the YA genre and we get to read some really fun stories together. We're currently reading The Curse of Greg, which is the second of a three-part book series about dwarves and elves hiding in plain sight in our modern world. I love getting this special alone time with my kids. I know getting time alone together (almost) every night probably won't last forever, but I hope they always remember that we did this and know how much I love them.
