July 1, 2023 - Saturday

We had a very relaxing Saturday. No plans, no obligations, just doing whatever we wanted! Days like this are kind of boring and elicit lots of complaining from the kids, but I like not feeling like I have to do something or be somewhere. I read a lot, we ran out to some stores, we decided we're going to renovate our kitchen soon (we'll see if Ben changes his mind about this one), the kids swam, I cooked dinner, played video games, gave baths, and watched Ruby and Clemi put on a play. All around, it was a good one.

Jonas leaves tomorrow and I am feeling really conflicted. Almost a whole week with no contact! It's crazy. He's excited, but he's started to feel a little nervous and sick to his stomach when he thinks about it. I know it'll be a good time for him, but I hate that he won't have us to reach out to when/if he's feeling sad or lonely. It'll be good. But also kind of feels like a no-turning-back moment. Like, now he's a kid that stays away from home sometimes and doesn't have to tell us what he's been up to. Idk. Maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion a bit. He's all packed up though and ready to head out right after CT. I'm honestly looking forward to being done with work early tomorrow almost as much as I'm nervous to see him off. It helps! :)

We had a really good day with Ollie. She was super helpful, calm, and happy today. She even played quietly and independently for a while and I really can't remember the last time she did that. When she's alone she's usually changing her clothes for the millionth time that day or getting into something she shouldn't. I had to get a picture, because it was so cute! Ruby had a really great day too. She hardly screamed or got counted at all. It really was a chill day for all of us. Nice to not hear a bunch of bickering and screaming.
