July 8, 2023 - Saturday

Well, I finally broke my streak. For the first time in 2023, I did not take any photos OR write my blog. I feel weird about it. Like, disappointed in myself? But why? It's my own, personal thing. Why am I making myself feel guilty for having two days when I didn't check in?

Anyway, Jonas came home from camp yesterday...FINALLY. It was hard having him gone. I really missed him and felt concerned that something would go wrong or he would get sad and I wouldn't be there to help. But, ALSO, functionally it was harder. You'd think having one kid out of the equation would make things easier, but that just wasn't the case. He wasn't there to handle his end of the chores and I usually have him help us with packing and prepping for trips. He said that it might have been the best week of his life though, so....I guess that's worth me being a little sad for a week.

We got to Cherrystone today! We ended up leaving the house at 5:30am and it was pretty terrible. But I woke up on my own at 4:45 and I figured...well, I guess I won't fight it. We can leave. Ben had already been up for an hour. 😅 The drive felt like forever, honestly. I don't think it was actually much longer than going to the beach, but it def felt longer. I think because we left earlier, the drive felt longer. Who knows? We got here a little after 4pm though, and we did make pretty good time. The kids were champs and didn't really complain, despite very infrequent stops. We listened to a book on tape for this trip, rather than just watching movies the whole time and it was good to switch it up. Ben let me sleep for two half hour chunks during the drive. He's so generous. *eye roll* We're glad to be here! Set up was sweaty and hot, but doable. We had dinner with dad and MJ and hung out for a bit, went to the pool, but headed to bed pretty early for Cherrystone standards.
