The retreat is finally here! I feel like I've been planning and prepping for a long time...but I guess it hasn't actually been that long. I took the kids to LHM this morning and on my way there, I got pulled over. Pulled the freak over! We were already running behind and next thing I know, I see police lights behind me. I pulled into an apartment complex and the cop told me that I RAN A RED LIGHT!?! Seriously?? I had absolutely no idea. I was driving in a whole pack of cars and honestly don't even remember going through a yellow light, but I guess I did it. *shrug* I was grateful that he was really polite and nice, since all of the kids were with me. Just because I have a negative feeling towards cops, in general, thanks to some terrible experiences as a teenager, doesn't mean I want my kids to feel that way! I believe the police are absolutely essential to our society and most of them are good people, just trying to do a good job. So, anyway, it was a big delay, but not earth-shattering. LHM went quickly and it was our last class, finally! Praise the Lord!!! Jonas went home with his friend Micah to hang out for a couple of hours.
After LHM, I rushed home to pack up the car. Ben woke up puking this morning, so he was no help at all. He kept trying to do stuff and I was just like, please, sit down. I'm pretty sure it's just his meds that are making him sick. He's dealt with nausea and diarrhea on and off since starting it. I was very grateful that I got everything ready yesterday! I got the car loaded up and everything fit in. And then we headed out to take Clem to choir in Westerville! I dropped her, Ben, and the other girls off at the church, then went back down to Jenny's neighborhood to grab Jonas. I then went BACK up to Westerville to pick everyone up and we were on our way! The drive was kind of miserable: so windy and hilly! Nobody threw up, but it was a close call for a couple of us.
After unpacking, Me, Ben, Alex, and Mark headed over to the fire pit area to gather up some wood and take it to the pavilion. It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow and we wanted to be prepared to still have a fire. On the second trip, we felt a drop of rain, so started to rush. Before we knew what hit us, it was a TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR!!! We're all running through the grass with armloads of wood, getting completely soaked. Poor Alex and Jay were stranded in the woodshed! The girls came to our rescue and brought over an umbrella, after getting themselves soaked and having a blast with it. I drove over and picked up the poor fallen soldiers we had lost along the way. :) It was pretty funny! We had a really fun evening, hanging out, talking, and playing a game with friends. The noise is a little overwhelming, and it might be challenging to tune it out. I get a little overstimulated! But I'm anticipating it being a wonderful weekend.
