I’m still going strong with my planned, hot breakfasts every morning! Ollie was annoyed yesterday and said, “I just wish you’d stop with the French toast bake.” So maybe that one needs a break from the menu. But it’s just the leftovers from the retreat! I normally wouldn’t have made it two weeks in a row.

School went well today and Clemi took her end of year assessment. Sadly, she didn’t improve from last year. I mean, she was still averaging in the 70th-90th percentile in all of the categories. It’s not like she did bad! But her scores were the same as, if not lower, than last year in all the categories too. I think we were both hoping to see the opposite.

After all that, Clem and Jonas went to drama practice at Calumet, while me, Ruby, and Ollie sat in the car for two entire hours. It was pouring rain, so the girls couldn’t get out and play. The traffic was terrible, so I didn’t want to drive home and back! It was fine. I got some reading done and relaxed. I just wish it wasn’t so inconvenient to get them over there every week. Like, if I could drop off and Ben could pick up or something. As it is, Ben doesn’t do anything at all with any of the kids' activities. I was thinking recently that it’s almost like his life hasn’t gotten harder at all, being a married parent. Even without kids, he’d be working all day. If he were single, he’d be making his own meals, but I make them for him now. I clean the house and do his laundry, so he doesn’t have to do any of that. Then, he comes home exhausted and gets frustrated at every attempt the kids make to get his attention because he just wants a chance to relax. So what is harder for him now? It’s making me kind of mad to think about, so I’m trying to drop it, mentally. But damn. Step it up Ben!
