October 26, 2023 - Thursday
Well, I didn't feel great again today, but they opened up the field trip to pre-schoolers too and I thought, what the heck, we might as well go! Sadly, I announced this to the girls before Jonas had a chance to tell me he had a stomach ache. With two of us feeling bad, I would have just planned to stay home, but I told everyone already, so we just went and left Jonas home alone. Spoiler alert: I spent the entire field trip being anxious about Jonas being home alone.
We went to a limestone quarry and got to have a tour of the actual working quarry. It was really cool! After the tour, we had a picnic lunch and then went on a hike. Turns out, the hike sucked. lol Maybe it wouldn't have if I wasn't sick, was wearing better shoes, or had less whiny children, but it was what it was. By the end (it was a bit over a mile up and down hills), we were all exhausted and grumpy (grumpiER in my case). We hit the road almost immediately afterwards because I wanted to get back to Jonas.
Side note - he wasn't answering the iPod at one point and I asked Kwin to go over and check on him. I was a mess.
I was so DONE after the field trip, that I mostly just sat on the couch like a bum for the rest of the day. I did manage to get the pizzas ready and picked a movie with the kids, but I even fell asleep while we were watching it! That is not like me.
Ben came up with this crazy idea tonight. He suggested that while my parents are here, we take a weekend away for a trip together. Not too crazy yet. But THEN he suggests we go up to northern Michigan, where I have always wanted to go!!!! It's a really long drive, but he said he'd map out fun stops, we'd eat at yummy places, and bring some good books on tape and, man, if that isn't the most fun idea ever, I don't know what is. He even said he'll text MJ to try and get it figured out! Feeling super loved by that.
