December 1, 2023 - Friday
Today felt SO busy. Jenny came over in the morning for a visit and that was really good. It’s been a while since we got together and it felt good to catch up and have a few laughs. But the kids, man…they were in rare form when it was time to start school. They basically got nothing done during the time they were supposed to be working independently and then, of course, I got super frustrated. We got a lot done, but not everything. And that’s honestly fine. I just wish it had been a more controlled ‘we’ll stop for the day’, rather than an ’I give up’. It happens though!
After school I started gathering all of the bags of donations I’ve been collecting from around the house, which took a lot longer than I expected. I headed out to drop them off and give blood at Dwell. That experience was kind of terrible. I ended up waiting for a really long time to give Power Reds and then they had trouble with my blood flow so they started messing around with the needle in my arm. They repositioned it in a very painful way and I told them I wouldn’t be able to sit in that much pain for a half hour and THEN I got super dizzy and lightheaded and thought I would faint. Soooo, all in all, not my best blood-giving experience. In the future, I’m just going to give regular donations and leave the Power Reds to the heroes.
After that debacle, we headed to Megan and Trey’s for dinner. Everything was delicious and the kids loved their house. It’s a very warm, welcoming home, for sure. We played a game for a while and then Patrice and the girl who is living with her stopped by and visited for a while. That was a fun ending to the dinner!
