February 3, 2024 - Saturday
What a great day! I slept in (if you can call it sleeping in when a kid is in your bed kicking you from 3:30am to 6:30am and then we all got ready to head to Yellow Springs. It was our first time there and I have to say, I love that town! It made me want to move out there. 😅 We went to a couple of shops and then had lunch at some tavern. The food was super delicious, everyone ate, and we had a really friendly waiter. It was a fantastic time. We weren’t rushed and nobody was in a bad mood. A rarity in a family of 6 emotional people!
After lunch, we headed over to Clifton Gorge Nature Preserve. We were going to go to the state park, but came here on a whim instead. The hike was gorgeous, right along the river. We even walked past a waterfall. By this time though, the kids were starting to get a little grumpy. We managed a short hike though (still took at least an hour!) and then left.
After Clifton Gorge we went to Young’s Dairy for ice cream. Definitely my least favorite part of the day. It was huge and crowded and, basically, the opposite of the rest of our experiences today. We went over to pet the animals and walk through the barn. The kids and Ben loved that part and fed a bunch of insistent, pushy goats, while I groaned and whined and begged everyone to get ready to leave. 😂 Hated that!
