March 2, 2024 - Saturday

Today. The morning started out much earlier than I like for a weekend (6:15am). I promised Ben I would make him sausage gravy before I left for this movie I promised the girls I would take them to at one of their friends' churches. So, I got up, wrote some short teachings on giving to do in 5 of the classrooms tomorrow, then made a huge breakfast. As soon as that was done, we headed to the church (very close to us, thankfully) for the movie. It was very cute! I felt kind of bad. We went because we were invited, but, of course, they were inviting people for outreach. I'm obviously not a great candidate for outreach, as I'm already saved AND very involved in my church. Ruby's friend's mom came up and started a kind of soft pitch for their church and I had to be like, well, actually... It was a little awkward. But whatever. The girls had a good time. When we got home, we just hung out, played in the yard, etc.

Eventually, I had to go get the bags from church, so we did that and then went to Rita's for a treat. I'm finding myself being grumpier, much more irritable, and sadder than usual. I'm pretty frustrated about it. Depression takes away from my life in so many ways and I just don't know how to get myself out of it!

Ben and I also decided to go on a date at P.F. Chang's and leave Jonas in charge for an hour and a half or so. When we got back and walked in the door, we were SLAMMED with the smell of gas. We quickly rushed the kids outside and frantically tried to air out the house, in case someone had knocked a burner on while we were gone or something. We have a monitor for gas and the levels didn't go down, even after the windows had been cracked for 40 minutes. We tried to turn off the gas ourselves, but the lever wouldn't budge. We eventually felt like we had no choice but to call 911. :( And man, they showed up in force. We had five fire trucks on our street, along with the marshal's vehicle. It was quite the hubbub! And we were incredibly stressed out. We had no idea what to expect cost-wise or time-wise. Thankfully, the Albino's took care of our girls and even fed them. The fire brigade finally rolled out after about an hour. They aired out the house for us and turned off the gas. After that, the gas company came. That guy was here for two hours trying to pinpoint the leak and he was able to find it! He was really great and I feel very grateful that we had kind, helpful people come out.

FINALLY, we were able to be in the house and start getting the kids to bed. Ben wanted to play his video game tonight, to decompress, and I was just really, really cranky and exhausted, so I went to bed as early as I could.
