January 11, 2026 - Sunday
We had our "family fun day" today! I woke up and tried to book our tickets to Zootopia 2 and saw that the entire theater at the 12:15pm showing was full. I mean, I could have gotten six seats, but they would have been all over the theater! Crazy. This movie has been out for months. I can't believe it's still selling out! So, we got to go to the 9:15am movie instead, which was wild. I mean, being in the movie theater at breakfast time was not a thing I wanted to do at all. What was crazy was how many adults were in there. What are you all doing at the movies this early in the morning?? It was so weird. But we all enjoyed the movie and there were no issues. Ben usually gets mad at the kids while we're in the theater and he didn't today, luckily.
However...I brought a big refilled soda into the car after the movie and since it was so big, I really shoved it down into the cup holder. I did narrate this, so it shouldn't have come as any surprise to Ben, when he attempted to get the cup out of the cupholder that it was a little stuck. But, he pulled at it anyway and the HUGE movie theater large Coke flew out of the cupholder and all. over. the. car. Ben kept repeating that everything was ruined over, and over, and over, and over again, while the kids sat stunned and silent in the back of the van. I was pretty shocked and silent at first, too, but then tried to tell him it was going to be fine. I made a plan in my head about how I would clean it and it would be fine. He didn't believe me, but when we got home, he and the kids worked together to clean the car of trash and coats and other nonsense, and I scrubbed all of the soda away. I even popped off all of the dash buttons that got saturated in soda. So, I can't say it's as good as new, because, for all I know, everything will be sticky in the future, but it seems ok to me.
In the afternoon and evening we finally painted the hallway!!! It looks like a brand new house. And we put in new light fixtures. They look great. I also want to do the electric and I got some really pretty wallpaper that I'm going to put on the wall that goes up the stairs. While Ben and I were working, both kids met with their mentors around the house. It was a fun afternoon, despite Ben's constant complaining and griping about how hard it is to paint and how tired his arms are! *sigh* It's so nice to have his help.
