June 14, 2022 - Tuesday

I took the kids to the splash pad this morning and we hung out with Shannon and Jing. The kids always have a great time there and I'm thankful I got to hang out with friends, otherwise I would have given up and gone home WAY earlier. It was SOOOOOOO hot!!! When we got there at 9:30 it was 77 degrees, but by the time we left it was in the 90s. I started to feel sick from it. (The car showed 102 degrees after dinner!)

I worked some in the afternoon and then we went out to Grandad's Pizza for their happy hour when the guys were done with work. Sadly, I ended up sitting at the end of the table by myself, so it was not a very fun time for me. But that's just the way things shake out sometimes. After dinner I had book club on Zoom and that's it for the day! Not very exciting, but man, I'm ready for some not exciting days. I'd love to have like 10 of them in a row. 

I'm sort of annoyed with Ben right now. I've been talking about doing this family dinner thing with HC for months. I've talked to like 10 people about it and last night I asked Ben if this weekend would work and he just kind of stayed silent and then said he'd have to think about it. Thinking back, he's always either been quiet about it or suggested we rent a pavilion at a park to host people. But I felt like having everyone go somewhere else was defeating the purpose. The whole idea was to make it like a family dinner, not like an event that everyone has to get their family ready for and he always said he got it. But, like, if he actually hated the idea so much, WHY did he let me go around talking to people about it like we're going to do it?? I feel like, ultimately, it will just make me look like a person who doesn't follow through on the things they say they're going to do. And it's not like I can send out a message saying, "Due to my husband hating this idea, we will never be hosting those family dinners I talked about." Although a part of me would really like to. Anyway, there are bigger things to worry about, but I'm just feeling irritated. It probably doesn't help that Ben and I have barely spoken to each other since Patrick got here. 

I had to include this ridiculous picture, because Ollie has been making this strange blank face and WILL NOT break character no matter what I say! She such a weirdo! 😆

And I had to include this cool Lego girl that Clemi made. I said it looked like an owl and she got upset. Whatever it looks like most, it's still really cool.
