June 7, 2022 - Tuesday
I can't believe how many days it has been since I posted last! I didn't take ANY pictures until today though, which is really rare for me. Not even crappy cell pictures. Since it has been many days, I'll give a recap of what's been going on:
Saturday - We drove home. Haha not very interesting! We did the whole drive, including stops, in 11 hours. It was really tough by the end. Everyone was sick of being in the car, especially Ollie. She started getting cranky and was making up excuses to stop, but we pushed through and made it home in time for dinner. We unpacked and headed to bed. (the pic of all four of them on the bench is from one of the rest areas)
Sunday - Ollie woke up at 1am COVERED in vomit. Her bed was like a crime scene. She got into our room, crying, and puked on our floor several times. We got her semi-cleaned up and laid down the toddler mattress next to our bed so I could keep an eye on her. Over the next 3 hours, she got up to vomit several times. At 4am she wanted to go back to her bed and said she felt a lot better. She went to sleep and woke up four hours later like she had never been sick! It was really crazy. We ended up cancelling dinner with the Arikoks just in case Ollie had a bug and another person in the family was carrying it, which was sad because we know they got their green card interview scheduled and we really wanted to catch up with them. We spent the day doing house chore-type-stuff. Oh, also, Evie is being an idiot and is threatening suicide to get Lulu's attention AGAIN. And honestly? I kind of want to kill her myself for putting MJ and dad through this, not to mention her horrible, selfish, awful timing. I just wish she would start acting like an adult, instead of an angsty teen.
Monday - Ben had to go into the office for an all-staff training that will last for three days. :( BOO. And I started my new job! I had a staff meeting at 10:30, so I started working an hour earlier, just to try and get a handle on some of our current clients and contracted designers. My hour of prep did nothing to help whatsoever, 😅 but the meeting was good. I ended up working and meeting for several hours and am feeling a lot better about my roles and responsibilities, although I'm still generally lost and have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. *shrug* Jonas started basketball camp today and he was really excited about it. It's kind of a pain to do drop off and pick up, but it's ok. It's only five days and he's really been wanting to do something. I took the girls to the library while he was at camp and we joined the Summer Reading Challenge, which will be a breeze since we all read so much anyway. I made pancakes for dinner, set up a grocery pick up order, did laundry, cleaned a little, and spent my whole night buying new car and homeowners insurance after Ben went to home church and I got the kids to bed. It was a very NOT relaxing day, but I did feel productive and useful, which is always nice.
ANNNNNND today! We met up with Brit, Anna, and Luca at a playground. It was such a nice playground!!! I have never been there, but it was seriously THE best. The bathrooms are a little bit of a hike, but it was a great spot for all of the kids to find something fun to do, even Jonas. It was good to catch up with Brit. Man, motherhood is hard. Why does being a good mom seem to constantly conflict with my actual personality? It's a struggle to do anything right, let alone feel like you're on top of things. After playing, we had lunch and I dropped Jonas off at camp. I let the girls play on the playground at the community center for a bit and now they're in quiet time, while I work on this blog post. :) I'm going to check in with work and see if I missed anything too. I'm making BBQ pulled chicken, noodles, and corn for dinner. I'm really, really trying so hard to be better. I feel like I have my arms full of little scraps of paper and they keep trying to blow away, while I am snatching at them, trying to keep them all together. We'll see how long I can hold on.
