February 13, 2025 - Thursday

Today was our CACH Valentine's party. It was a little bit of a stressful morning because I wanted to get a full day's worth of school done today. I also forgot to buy stuff to make mac n cheese, so I had to do a pick up super early at Giant Eagle. Man, that was a whole thing. Unfortunately, Ben's phone number is the one on the account, so he needed to check me in when I got there. I sat and sat and sat, waiting for him to check me in. He forgot all about me, so I spent ten minutes sitting there, texting and calling him asking him to check me in. I was very irritated when I got home. But I got over it after a little while. I got the macaroni and cheese into the oven and did school for a little while, then we got ready for the party!

I know I say it all the time, but I love this co-op. The party was a really good time and the kids had a lot of fun too. I got stuck talking to Charlene for longer than I would have liked, but I had good convos with a few of my friends from the group. So, this thing with Charlene. She hosts Korean exchange students and the person she works with is looking for more hosts. She gets $1,000 per month per student. I mentioned it to Ben and he said he might be interested in doing that too. I asked her where to get information, like a website, and she said the lady who arranges everything is in Ohio for the month and we could have a meeting. I told her that this was purely exploratory, not any kind of guarantee. But now that I've shown any interest, Charlene is talking to me like it's a sure thing. She even introduced me to the student she's hosting for three weeks who is going to need placement next school year. It's a little stressful! The real problem is that it doesn't seem to be any real organization. It's almost like this Korean matchmaker tries to find American hosts for rich Korean families so that their kids can get an American education. There's no official way to get information, just verbally, in person with this lady. Ben is extremely uncomfortable with the idea of that and I'm mildy uncomfortable with it too. We'll see how this meeting goes in two weeks.
