August 1, 2021 - Sunday (300/365)

Day 300 of my 365 Photo Journal

It's AUGUST! The summer has been flying by (thank God) and I cannot wait for it to be over. This will be a pretty busy next couple of weeks with appointments and whatnot and then school starts on the 19th! Today was nice and slow though. I made breakfast, read, worked, got a few productive things done (re-covered the chairs and hung blackout curtains in Ollie's room), and then Ben and I had a nice date at the House of Japan. We haven't gone out together just for sushi before, but that's what we had in mind for tonight, so when our original restaurant was closed, we found this one 1/4 mile away and went there instead! It was actually kind of nice and intimate sitting at the sushi bar. We tried a few new things and just visited for a while. I'm so thankful for a babysitter we trust that our kids love.

Tonight though. 😖 So we got the kids to bed and Ben didn't sleep well last night, so he went up early. I was down here puttering around, taking care of some last minute chores and noticed two grocery bags still sitting on the benches by the back door. Curious, I looked inside, and there is most of our meat and fish for the week! Still sitting the F out! Oh my gosh. So, I open everything up and although the fish is mostly thawed, nothing seems off about it. No smell and no slime, so I get it all prepped and stick it in the oven. Same with the turkey: I smell it, feel it, everything looks okay, so I get it all seasoned, make up turkey patties and cook them in the skillet for our burgers we're supposed to have this week. NOT how I wanted or expected my evening to go! But I am thankful that I saw the food and saved us almost $20. Let's just hope and pray Ben doesn't get all weird about it and make me throw everything away anyway, after all that effort!

Posting outside photos from yesterday, because all I have from today is a picture of Ollie on my iPhone and I think these ones are way more interesting! So this one of all the kids in the street is after they graffiti'd basically the whole cul-de-sac with chalk. I mean, SO MUCH chalk! Jonas down at the end of the street drew two chains from our driveway to there. These bubble ones are just adorable. Bubble gun came back out!
