Day 314 of my 365 Photo Journal

I took a thousand pictures of the girls doing yoga this morning and none of them were any better than this, so here it is! I honestly didn't even want to edit it, because it's just so bad. 😅 But it was an adorable moment (actually lots of moments) and I'm glad I captured it, even if it isn't a beautiful photograph. 

Today was a much slower day than yesterday. It consisted of hanging around the house, running out to World Market to go crazy spending $$$, and then hanging around the house some more. We didn't actually end up spending any money at World Market, but we wanted to! We really want to get some dining room chairs. Ours are awful looking and terribly uncomfortable. The seats are all busted out, so much so that the springs are hanging out of the bottom and have cut my legs several times. There's always bits of cushion all over the carpet and the seat covers all have grease stains on them. They're a mess! Sadly, World Market didn't have what we needed and we were pretty bummed about that. We're also considering building a new fire pit area and looked at seating for around the future fire, but they only had like one of each color of adirondack chairs and that's not what we want. I'm at the point in my life where I'm up for making a bigger financial investment to get what I actually want, not just something to hold me over until I can afford what I actually want. Big change from 10 years ago...even 5! Things can be very tight at times, but having the luxury to consider spending like $600+ on dining room chairs is a big deal! We've always just gotten them for free. 🤣

Potty training was...ok today. When I got her up this morning, she had peed sometime in the night. This was the first time this has happened and she was pretty uncomfortable. I'm a light sleeper and she didn't cry out at any point, so I'm guessing it was just too much liquids right before bed and it happened in her sleep. Soon after that, she pooped in her underwear downstairs, which was really frustrating. She just does not really have the pooping thing figured out yet. I think it just takes her SO long and she really doesn't want to stop what she's doing to go! THEN, she peed on her floor in her room right before her nap. That one, I partially blame on myself. She said she had to go and I rushed her upstairs, but then I stopped to look for her ba-ba because it was naptime. While I was searching, she was peeing on her floor. :( The rest of the day has been good though and she even pooped on the potty tonight!

What a day! It literally rained from start to finish, but we packed as much into it as we possibly could! We had a great time visiting and hanging out. We had a fire and lots of great meals *brushes shoulder off*. The kids played well together and, as far as I know, there wasn't any drama! It was a bit exhausting, but I'm so glad that this retreat went well. Last year's was a bit of a bomb, with all the childcare drama happening behind the scenes. I feel like last year's retreat was a pre-cursor to our deciding to move away. Not that they actually had anything to do with one another, but they happened in such close succession that they seem related in retrospect. I drank a bit too much tonight and had a really fun time singing songs, while Tony played the guitar. Man, I wish I had talent with instruments!

November 9, 2025 - Sunday

This is my favorite picture from the whole shoot!! I love it.  We went to CT this morning and I actually got to sit in on the teaching! Woo! It feels like that doesn't happen very often. We hung out in the cafe with friends for a little bit, then went to Chipotle for lunch on the way home.  We spent most of the day just relaxing! I started a photo book for our Maine vaca in September, and tried to get caught up with some other stuff, but it was mostly just a chill day. Jonas and Clem went to group and we stayed home, chillin'. Ben and I got in the hot tub with Ruby and Ollie for a little while, which was fun. It was snowing while we were in there!

November 24, 2025 - Monday

Today was a very rough day for me. It's not like everything went wrong, I just really struggled to manage my emotions. I had to run out, first thing, to get my pick-up order because there were things in it that we needed for breakfast. Then, somehow, we didn't get school started until almost 9:30. I started with Ruby and Ollie, as usual, and decided to check in with Ollie while I was reading. Okay, related side note, Ruby can't stand it when I ask Ollie questions and not her. But the thing is, Ruby remembers EVERYTHING she hears. She learns super well by just plain old listening. If I ask her questions, she answers them correctly and I never get to gauge whether or not Ollie is learning. She also always blurts out answers because she's so afraid I won't give her an opportunity to show us all how much she is learning. And I get it! She wants praise and to show me that she's a good student and she's learning. I understand. But, because of her constant eagernes...
