August 14, 2021 - Saturday (313/365)

Day 313 of my 365 Photo Journal

Man, what a crazy Saturday. We actually had plans nearly ALL day! For people that rarely leave their house, this was pretty wild for us. First, Ruby had her first-time bus riders event. Thank GOD I got there early, because by the time I was leaving at 9:20am, there were hundreds of people in line! I can't even imagine waiting in all of that, just to let Ruby look at some busses and take a quick ride. Thankfully, we were some of the first to arrive and got through the whole tour and bus ride in record time.

Next, we were invited to a birthday party for our neighbor Aubrey up the street. We knew it was going to be a bit awkward and...it was. We didn't know anybody there, but really, nobody knew anybody there. 🤷 They invited all of the friends with kids that they've made from our neighborhood and it was nice getting to meet some people, but it wasn't like any of those people were easy to talk to or anything. It was such a fun theme though! They called it Aubtoberfest and made brats and had beer. They had German candies and pretzels and stuff. So creative and fun! Best part? Ollie stayed dry and peed in the potty while we were there. 🥳

In between things, I vacuumed the pool and we hung out outside for a while. The weather was cool (really just less hot) and it was cloudy, which was wonderful.

Lastly, we went to Henmick Farm & Brewery with some folks from HC. It was a little over a half an hour away and Ben was pretty worried that it would be too busy, and although it was busy, the Popescos got there first and saved us some seats! We happened to pull up at the same time as the Hawthornes and Elliot was already there. There was a live band and the kids just ran around, played with rocks (and in Ollie's case: swam in rocks, laid in rocks, slept in rocks), danced, and made friends with other little kids while us adults chatted and drank beer. Honestly, I didn't get to do too much chatting, but it was still a good time. Alex described it perfectly when he said it felt just like a backyard hangout. Other than having to run Ollie to the bathroom FOUR freaking times, it was really relaxing. Truth be told, I should just be grateful that she stayed dry and happy the whole time! And I am! It was just a long walk to the indoor bathrooms. I wised up and started using the portopotty eventually. We also had some food truck food for dinner and that was pretty good too! All around, it was a really nice evening, spending time with good people.

Oh, and to top it all off, Ollie is already asleep (8:55pm) and didn't have any accidents today!! She also didn't poop all day, which could mean trouble for tomorrow, but I'll just live in the now. :)
