May 2, 2023 - Tuesday
Today was a good, but very busy, day. We headed out in the morning to visit with the Siedels. I was a little nervous, since I've never even had a conversation with Christine before, but she was very easy to talk to and we had a really good time getting to know each other a little bit. The girls all played really well together too.
After that play date, I took the girls out for lunch, during which they acted like complete a-holes. Screaming, fighting, sliding under the table, talking super loud. Our waitress took a long time to come over and, at one point, I stood up and was like, "Just forget it. We're leaving." Everyone begged me to not leave and promised they'd behave better, and they did. But I was still pretty pissed for the rest of lunch.
After lunch was ballet. Ollie still does not know the dance at all! I just have to work super hard to not be embarrassed that I never make her practice. I really thought this was going to be a chill dance class situation, but it is not. It is serious and the ballet teacher is serious and the recital is going to be serious. So...I just wasn't prepared for all these expectations! Feeling lots of regrets about deciding to have her in the recital. It feels like too freaking much, especially during the birthday party weekend. But it'll be ok! And Ollie will be beautiful and adorable. I know we'll all enjoy it, in the end.
After ballet was a visit to the Traders! We had a good time and kids played together really well. There were a lot of distractions, so not great opportunities for conversation, but I'm glad we went over and spent some time with them.
After Traders was work! Work is over and now we are done with our very formal dinner of cereal and I'm trying to decide if I'm going to do something constructive, like priming the cornhole boards or staining 1x8s for the deck. Ben seems to think I should not do anything. Probably because he'll feel like he has to do something if I do something.
