January 29, 2024 - Monday
It's the last Monday in January. First month of the year is already gone! It's crazy how fast time flies nowadays. When the kids were little, I'd always be surprised at how long my days felt, but how fast the weeks and months would go by. Now it all just zooms past. Before I know it, I've neglected to do all kinds of things that I intended to do "soon".
School went pretty well today and afterwards I took the girls to the library to play with the new toys they installed there. Of course, those toys are for babies and toddlers, not weird, old, homeschool kids, but whatevs. If you install new toys, the homeschoolers will come. After that we went to Costco and stocked up on some stuff. I spent my lowest amount yet! Only $130! It is hard to get out of there without spending $300. The trick, for me, is to not get many perishables like fruit, veggies, and fresh baked goods. Those things cost a lot and end up going bad before we can use them. We probably wasted $75 on stuff like that the time that Ben came shopping there with me.
I was so people'd out by the time we got home from Costco (it was packed) that I had to send the kids upstairs for a late quiet time. I just needed a break! I made chicken tikka masala for dinner (from a package) and had naan and salad with it. It was a very good dinner and everyone was happy, for once. Ben and I left Jonas in charge until Maria came at 7:30 and went to Target to pick up a couple of things before HC. We ended up only buying beer, but at least we got to walk around without the kids for a few minutes. HC was actually really good tonight. The girls and guys weren't separate because it was such a small group, so it brought a new flavor to conversations. I also got time to have a good convo with Anne. Tonight was definitely a night that I felt grateful for group.
I didn't take any pictures again today. *face palm* This is one from 2021 on a winter hike with Jenny and kids. This is Ruby and Millie.
