Another fantastic day in Maine!! This really is my favorite place on earth. If it weren't still 8 hours from family, we'd consider moving here. But who knows what life will look like in 20 years. Maybe we'll be rich enough to have a vacation home here that we can come to whenever we want. It doesn't seem likely! But I suppose it's possible. I can dream, anyway.

We spent the morning at home (seems to be a theme for us) and then headed to Pemaquid Lighthouse. I've never been there (that I can remember) and the rocks were some of the coolest I have ever seen in my entire life. Just breathtaking! We walked around and explored there for a little while and waited for dad and MJ to get to the lighthouse. We eventually meandered into the cool, little museum and then walked up into the lighthouse. Quite the narrow climb! Ben was pretty sour, because MJ acted like the lighthouse was on the way to Boothbay, but it really was just the same general direction. It was an hour detour. It was hard for him to get past his pissiness and he never really did, putting a bit of a cloud over the afternoon.

After the lighthouse, we headed to...you guessed it...Boothbay! Parking was challenging in town, so I dropped the grump, Aunt Evie, and the kids off at the bathroom, then headed to find a spot on my own. Ben did not like how long he was alone with the kids, and was quite the storm cloud by the time I caught back up with them, dad and MJ in tow. We checked in for our sunset tour, then waited in line for a while to get onto the boat.

My honest review? The tour was pretty boring. It was two hours, and I really thought we'd need that much time, but two hours was one too many. For what we did, sail out of the harbor, sit around in the bay, and sail back, an hour would have been plenty. But we did see some harbor porpoises and some seals, so that was really cool. Plus, us and the kids had a cool experience that we'll, hopefully, remember for many years to come.
