August 11, 2023 - Friday
Another day of waking up feeling a little less depressed! Woo! Me and the girls headed over to Jenny’s and hung out there until almost noon. It was a great visit. The kids had a blast and I loved laughing and talking with Jenny, as usual. I ran to the church to grab supplies, picked up some Mcd’s and headed home.
Ben has been super loving, supportive, and helpful over this last week or so. I’m so grateful for him. Today, rather than having me cook, he did a whole fancy dinner thing for the kids and they were all super excited about it. Meanwhile, I got to work in the homeschool room, trying to get things finalized for Wednesday. Again, I crashed hard in the afternoon. I just laid on the floor staring at nothing for a long time this afternoon…BUT I got myself up and, knowing Ben had dinner covered, managed to be productive.
After dinner, we took the kids to the pool and Ben didn’t pressure me to get in at all. I got to read for a while, and then watched the kids in the splash pad, taking pictures. Everyone had to let the bucket of water dump on their head, other than Ollie. It made me laugh a lot how many redo's we had to do. :) Also, while I was reading, Ollie kept leaving the pool and coming to sit next to me saying, "I just don't want you to be lonely, mom." It was very sweet. We stayed almost until closing time, got the kids home and into bed, then Ben and I watched the Otto movie with Tom Hanks. Neither of us was prepared for that level of sadness. Omgosh. It was SAD. But so good. It really made us think about our relationship and just not wanting to take each other for granted. It was a beautiful movie and I did love it. I just think Ben wishes I had chosen something else.
Lots of fun plans tomorrow! Looking forward to it.
Oh, and I had to include this terrible picture of Ollie and Ruby playing, because that moment felt like Heaven to me. Everything was quiet and each kid was going about their own activities while I was able to just soak it in. It was a beautiful 15 minutes of my day.
