April 19, 2021 - Monday (196/365)
Our neighbors down the street made a little obstacle course for their daughter (third from the left) in their driveway, which my kids invited themselves to! I think it'll be a fun little girl gang for them to grow up with. They also have a 7-month-old daughter that will get to join eventually!
Back from vacation and back to life. It was a pretty slow day, but I did get to have breakfast with my friend Grace, who I haven't seen since COVID began...even though she lives right in my neighborhood! She has been through a lot over the last year, including her husband leaving her and her children, and it just gave me a surge of appreciation for my husband and my marriage. She is strong and resilient and certainly hasn't let this break her, but she's also lost in a way and unsure of what direction she should go. I'm thankful that she opened up to me, because she's a very private person. I'm hoping to meet with her a little more regularly up until our kids are out of pre-k! (her son and Ruby go to the same school)
Jonas has a cold and in order for him to be allowed back at school I had to take him to the doctor. Very annoying. On the upside, he got a COVID test, which was negative, so that at least gives us some peace of mind that we just have a regular old virus going through the house, rather than the coronavirus. Whew!
I missed home church tonight, which seems to happen way too often lately. The thing is, it's really tough to get everyone to bed and still make it to HC on time. I either have to not read to the kids and switch things up completely, or be extremely late/miss HC altogether, and it's hard for me to just forfeit our bed time routine. I know it seems trivial, but it just makes me feel bad. Starting next week though (confirmed with the sitters today!) we should be able to go back to HC as a couple and the sitters will take care of the bed time routine! I'm SO excited that we are going to be fully vaccinated and let loose in the world again.
