February 8, 2023 - Wednesday
I've started REALLY liking Wednesdays. First, it's the middle of the week and that means it's almost over! I only have pizza and a movie night and Friday ahead before the weekend. Second, Ben and I are both home in the evenings, so there is no rushing around at all. It's so nice. I've been able to "disciple" both Jonas and Clem these last two Wednesdays. I don't know if I should really call it that, but I've been able to read their devotionals, a Bible verse or two, and pray with them each individually. We also don't usually do baths on Wednesdays 🥳 since we do them every other day, starting on Sundays. :)
So today was a good day. I read the Bible a bit this morning, then headed out for play group. We met at Sharon Woods: me, Anne & all 5, Caitlin & her 2, and Brit & her 2. We played at the natural play area for the majority of the time and it's always...idk...notable to me that kids seem to enjoy the natural play areas so much more than real playgrounds. Like, they just never seem to get bored of moving sticks around and playing in the dirt. We met a woman and her two sons at the playground and she hung out with us for the entire playdate. She seemed to really be enjoying herself, so I got her number and told her I'd let her know where we're heading next Wednesday so that she can join us again if she wants. She said she'd really love that! So that was exciting. I was cringing a lot while we were there because of how muddy it was, but it was all good. When we got home, we had lunch and I worked for a little while. I've been sticking to some unspoken personal boundaries about how much work I'm going to allow myself to do in a day for the last couple of days. It has been better. I feel better about my time and how my days go when I'm not letting myself freak out about work for half of the day.
I got kind of bummed about dinner because Kroger shorted us a couple of bags when I grabbed my pick-up order on Monday and two of the ingredients from tonight's dinner were included in those bags. I already complained and got money back, which is all well and good, BUT I still didn't have the dang food! And it's not easy for me to make time to go to the store, so dinner was a little different than I had planned, but Ben made us some yummy burgers and, although we had less things, it was still fine.
We got Ruby and Ollie to bed and I told them a story about two little girls named Rolive and Ouby. 😂😎 They got a kick out of it. And then Ben told them a story about a lemon named Applesauce. I'll have to think of a story about an apple named Lemonade for tomorrow. :) It was fun! We haven't told stories in a while. We usually just read a book. Then I did the studies with the big kids and now I'm hanging out blogging with a drink! Feeling pretty content right now.
