We took it relatively slowly this easy...didn't rush to get out of the campground too much! Patrick started a fire and we all sat around and visited. It was fun to recount the many going ons of last night! You know how I mentioned heading to bed pretty early and settling in to read my book?? Well, I kept hearing footsteps and rustling around for probably the next 45 minutes. I was pretty freaked out, honestly. I couldn't find the hatchet I brought into our tent to "protect myself" and just kept praying that nobody would stab through the tent and kill us all. I knew it was either a human or a very, very heavy animal stomping around. After 40 of those terrifying minutes, I saw and heard a vehicle pull up to my site and some people talking. I had had enough! I came out of the tent to see what the heck was going on and Noemi was walking away from a truck that was pulling away. I chased after her and asked what was going on. Apparently, she'd spent the last hour or so walking around the site, collecting plates and trash, and fighting off raccoons (who I had heard growling and fighting in the woods!). The truck was just a random occurence...some drunk stranger was driving around the campground for some reason and informed Noemi that there was a bike in the road. He then drove over to the bike, picked it up, and drove back to Noemi to give it to her. Then he asked where the bathroom was. 😅 Quite a night! Once all the mysteries were solved, I slept easily and deeply.
Packing up was a little crazy, as it always is. It was so nice to get in the shower when I got home though! And so satisfying to get all of the filthy clothes and things clean. Ben and I went out on a little date for lunch and sat down at CM Chicken for a little while. Their chicken is just SO DANG GOOD. Then we went to the car wash to give his car a bath and clean out the inside. It still looks like hot garbage, but he feels a little better about it.
The afternoon was spent reading and relaxing and the evening was spent out with Ruby and Ollie! We went to our favorite Indian restaurant for dinner, and the girls did awesome...they tried a bunch of new foods and even ate chicken! Which is a rarity for them. :) Then we went to Target and picked out their Halloween costumes while they're 30% off. Woo!
