September 23, 2025 - Tuesday


Ah, another day in paradise. 😅 We skipped Wild & Free AGAIN today because it was rainy this morning, meaning lots of mud on the trail, and it was an hour away. I just don't want to drive that far to get places, just to get muddy and uncomfortable! I do feel bad though, because we've missed four in a row now. Yikes. I feel like they're going to kick me out! I know they won't, but we're technically only allowed to miss once a month. I don't think they think it's a big deal, although I know they'd prefer for us to be there. I just wish I had less on my plate. I knew leading up to this school year that I was over-committed but continued marching forward with my stupid plans anyway. I am a coward, not standing up to my children and insisting that we cut something out. *sigh* So now I just want to cut everything out! I won't though. I'll stay the course for now. I can do this.

We really just hung out and did school all day. We are living a new life with our bathroom cleaning habits and poor Ollie has to wash her hands every time she wants to suck her thumb now, which has been very upsetting and challenging for her. I'm not sure I'll be able to force her to maintain it. And, dang, we are going through the soap!!! But Clem mentioned feeling perfect several times today, so I'm not really sure anything is actually going on at all. She pooped twice today and there were no pinworms. I truly believe she could have imagined it or had some rice in there that she thought was wiggling but it wasn't? I don't know. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt, but I'd love for this all to just be a false alarm.

I had book club tonight and it was a good time! Me, Megan, and Rachel all made it, along with three other regular girls from book club. It was a small group for us, though. We usually have 10-ish and there were just 6 tonight. Small groups area always my preference. Conversation is so much easier, and I feel much more like I'm getting to know people this way. We went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner because our book was set in Australia. It was so fun! The drinks all had fun themes and the food was fine. I just got some fried shrimp. Most people got steaks though, which was honestly a little funny to me. I guess it is a steakhouse though! So it makes total sense. I just hadn't really thought of it for some reason. 😆

What a day! It literally rained from start to finish, but we packed as much into it as we possibly could! We had a great time visiting and hanging out. We had a fire and lots of great meals *brushes shoulder off*. The kids played well together and, as far as I know, there wasn't any drama! It was a bit exhausting, but I'm so glad that this retreat went well. Last year's was a bit of a bomb, with all the childcare drama happening behind the scenes. I feel like last year's retreat was a pre-cursor to our deciding to move away. Not that they actually had anything to do with one another, but they happened in such close succession that they seem related in retrospect. I drank a bit too much tonight and had a really fun time singing songs, while Tony played the guitar. Man, I wish I had talent with instruments!

November 9, 2025 - Sunday

This is my favorite picture from the whole shoot!! I love it.  We went to CT this morning and I actually got to sit in on the teaching! Woo! It feels like that doesn't happen very often. We hung out in the cafe with friends for a little bit, then went to Chipotle for lunch on the way home.  We spent most of the day just relaxing! I started a photo book for our Maine vaca in September, and tried to get caught up with some other stuff, but it was mostly just a chill day. Jonas and Clem went to group and we stayed home, chillin'. Ben and I got in the hot tub with Ruby and Ollie for a little while, which was fun. It was snowing while we were in there!

November 24, 2025 - Monday

Today was a very rough day for me. It's not like everything went wrong, I just really struggled to manage my emotions. I had to run out, first thing, to get my pick-up order because there were things in it that we needed for breakfast. Then, somehow, we didn't get school started until almost 9:30. I started with Ruby and Ollie, as usual, and decided to check in with Ollie while I was reading. Okay, related side note, Ruby can't stand it when I ask Ollie questions and not her. But the thing is, Ruby remembers EVERYTHING she hears. She learns super well by just plain old listening. If I ask her questions, she answers them correctly and I never get to gauge whether or not Ollie is learning. She also always blurts out answers because she's so afraid I won't give her an opportunity to show us all how much she is learning. And I get it! She wants praise and to show me that she's a good student and she's learning. I understand. But, because of her constant eagernes...
