May 24, 2026 - Sunday

We all slept great last night, except for Ben who, again, got more than a dozen calls overnight about his dad. His lungs stopped working and they put him on a ventilator. Dennis doesn’t want any life-sustaining treatments, so the whole day was just a mess. Ben is responsible for his living will and his healthcare decisions, so he had a lot of communicating to do and was freaking about needing to leave. Throughout the day, though, we got some updates and they did a procedure to clear his lungs. We’ll see in the days to come if it was successful. 

We had a fun day, despite the stress. We just went back and forth from the beach to the pool a lot, really. We went to get burgers for lunch at a place called River City…which seems like a strange name for an ocean-side burger place. But the food was good! We asked to sit inside and were conveniently seated outside  where the wind blew our food, menus, and napkins around for the entire meal. By the time we were done eating, we were definitely ready to get out of there! Way too much wind!  

The afternoon was just more pool and beach. I heated up leftovers for dinner, then we went back to the pool for a couple of hours after we ate. Our condo has no working tv or internet, so it’s not all that fun to be inside right now. The kids just fight the whole time we’re in there. They’re playing board games and it seems like it should be good, but they’re just constantly bickering. At this point, I just want to turn on a movie and have them hush up for a while.  They’re supposed to take care of it after Memorial Day…on some unspecified day and time.  All good!!
